Published on November 5, 2019, the Phase I report of the District Task Force on Jails & Justice includes feedback from nearly 2,000 community members and experts in the criminal legal field, as well as the input and energy from the Task Force's 26 diverse expert members. The Task Force is convened by the Council for Court Excellence and partners the Vera Institute for Justice and National Reentry Network for Returning Citizen.

CCE Policy Analyst Adam Bernbaum testified at a public hearing before the Committee on Recreation and Youth Affairs of the Council of the District of Columbia regarding Bill B23-0291, or "The Detained Youth Access to the Juvenile Services Program Amendment Act of 2019."

CCE Board President Patrick McGlone testified before the Committee on the Judiciary and Public Safety of the Council of the District of Columbia at the "Restore the Vote Amendment Act of 2019" hearing.

CCE staff testified before the Committee on Public Safety and the Judiciary of the Council of the District of Columbia at the Budget Oversight Hearing for Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants.

CCE testified before the Committee on Government Operations of the Council of the District of Columbia at the Budget Oversight Hearing for the Executive Office.

CCE staff testified before the Committee on Facilities and Procurement of the Council of the District of Columbia at the Budget Oversight Hearing for the Mayor's Office on Returning Citizen Affairs.
