CCE Collecting Signatures in Support of Fully Funding DC Courts
August 26, 2026 - CCE is calling on community partners - including individuals, businesses, and organizations - to join us in signing on to our letter regarding the looming crisis facing the D.C. Courts’ budget.
Although it hasn’t been in the news much yet, our Chief Judges have sounded the alarm on the fact that a House Committee is proposing a funding reduction of nearly 13% for our courts for Fiscal Year 2027, even though criminal and civil case filings have increased significantly. This means our courts actually need a bigger budget than last year to function, not a severe reduction. We at CCE are asking all of our community partners to come together and call on the U.S. Senate to ensure that our local courts are fully-funded and can effectively support the fair, equitable, and timely administration of justice.
The letter language is HERE.
To sign on, you must fill out this online form. The UPDATED deadline to sign is Friday, September 11.
If possible, we hope that you will provide or seek organization-level signatures from your leadership, as we want to have as many businesses, nonprofit organizations, and groups listed as signatories as possible. We also welcome and will include individual signatories. The more, the better!
We will not be able to manage individual email requests to be added. Once you sign on, you do not need to do anything else. We will deliver the final letter to the Senate, share it with the press, and will post it on CCE's website and social media. Note: CCE will not share signatories’ contact information publicly nor will we sell/give your contact information to any third parties.
