The Council for Court Excellence is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the pursuit of an equitable and accessible justice system in the District of Columbia. This privacy policy (this “Privacy Policy”) describes what information the Council for Court Excellence (“we”, “our”, “us”, or “CCE”) receives about you (“Personal Information”), including when and how we collect it; how we use it; and with whom we may share it.

Personal Information We Receive

CCE receives Personal Information when you interact and communicate with us electronically and in-person; through our website; when you sign up to volunteer with us; and when you provide a donation to support our work (collectively referred to as our “Services”). In general, the type of Personal Information we receive will depend on how you choose to interact with us and our Services.

The categories of Personal Information that we may collect are outlined below:

• Contact Information. We may collect contact information such as your name, professional affiliation, pronouns, mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address.
• Inquiry Information. We collect information when you communicate with us, including when you contact us through our various online, phone, or volunteer channels for information or assistance.
• Device, Activity and Usage Information. We may collect information about the computers, phones, and other devices used when interacting with our Services, including browser type, version, IP address (which may be used to infer general location at a city or county level) and cookie ID. We may also collect information regarding your use of our Services, including your referrer URL (which is the URL for the website that you were viewing prior to visiting the website), how you were directed to our Services, which specific pages you accessed, how long you view each page, and the time and date you access our Services. This information is collected through cookies and similar tracking technologies (including session replay technology).
• Financial Information. If you donate to CCE, we use a third-party payment service provider to collect and process payment information to process your transaction.

We use Personal Information for the following purposes:

• Conducting Operations. We use Personal Information to provide our Services and fulfill our mission, including providing you with information, resources, or membership.
• Communicating with You. To communicate with you, including sending emails, newsletters, or additional content to market our Services; event registrations and campaign sign-ons; responding to your questions and comments; and to update you about our Services.
• Marketing, Advertising and Data Analytics. We use Personal Information to conduct data analytics so that we can better understand the individuals we serve, better communicate with you, and improve our Services, and for marketing and advertising purposes, including to market and advertise our Services and conduct charitable sales promotions.

CCE does not sell any Personal Information to any third parties. We may share the above categories of Personal Information with the following third parties:

• Third Party Service Providers. We share Personal Information, as needed, with third-parties that provide operational services on our behalf, such as website hosting, information technology and infrastructure, data analytics, email delivery, credit card processing, order fulfillment, or auditing or other services. These third parties may not use Personal Information for any other purposes.
• Marketing, Advertising, and Analytics Partners. We may use third-party marketing, advertising, and analytics providers to provide statistics and analysis about how people are using our Services and to provide advertising and marketing for our Services, and to conduct charitable sales promotions. These third-party partners may receive your device, activity and usage information through third-party cookies and similar tracking technologies.
• To Third Parties for Legal Reasons. We may also disclose your Personal Information as we believe to be necessary or appropriate to comply with applicable law, to respond to requests from public and government authorities, to cooperate with law enforcement, or for other legal reasons.

We are committed to using reasonable organizational, technical and administrative measures designed to secure the information to protect Personal Information within our organization. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet nor any data storage system is 100% secure. Do-Not-Track Signals

Our Services do not currently respond to Do-Not-Track signals.

California’s “Shine the Light” Law

We do not share your Personal Information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
