CCE's latest report, "D.C.'s Justice Systems Overview 2021" provides a summary of some of the most significant challenges and innovations faced by D.C.'s adult and youth criminal legal systems over the last year.

On February 9, 2022 CCE and the D.C. Access to Justice Commission released a report with 71 recommendations to advance and modernize probate for everyone and enhance access to justice for low- and moderate-income people.

CCE's latest report, "D.C.'s Justice Systems Overview 2020" provides a summary of some of the most significant challenges and innovations faced by D.C.'s adult and youth criminal legal systems over the last 18 months.

CCE stands in solidarity with the Asian-American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.

From supporting the District Task Force on Jails & Justice in publishing its Phase II report, conducting virtual School Jury Education Program sessions, and testifying before DC Council, CCE has hit the ground running in 2021.

The Phase II report, released February 2021, provides implementation plans for the Task Force’s 80 recommendations that will help D.C. to invest in safe communities, to lower incarceration rates, to regain local control over its criminal justice system, and to create a single new non-traditional facility to hold all people still detained pre-trial or sentenced to incarceration. The Task Force’s work reflects input from over 2,500 D.C. residents, including people who are currently incarcerated, and the expertise of its members.
