Building Better Justice for D.C. by D.C.
At the Council for Court Excellence, we bring people together to conduct research, educate, and advocate to make D.C.’s unique legal systems more just, equitable, and accountable to the community. We work on making immediate and long-term change in D.C.'s courts, as well as our civil, criminal, and youth legal systems.
Our Issue Areas

Civil Justice
We help improve the accessibility and effectiveness of D.C. courts and civil legal system, centering the needs of people who may not have access to an attorney.

Criminal Justice
We serve as a key researcher, convener, and advocate in D.C.’s rapidly-changing criminal legal system landscape.
