Administrative justice reform

CCE continues to monitor the implemention of the DC Office of Administrative Hearings, which was established by the DC Council in 2002 as a result of CCE examination of the District's administrative adjudicatory system. The CCE recommendation was to centralize into one agency - the DC OAH - the disparate hearing offices of over 20 DC Executive Branch agencies. Application of this concept in other jurisdictions suggest the following benefits: faster disposition of cases; increased confidence by litigants that the process is fair; and increased compliance with agency rules and regulations.
