Council for Court Excellence Board Elected New Chair

Tamika Tremaglio, Deloitte’s Greater Washington Managing Principal, Named Chair

At its meeting on June 19, 2018, the Board of Directors of the Council for Court Excellence (CCE) elected Tamika L. Tremaglio, Deloitte LLP’s Greater Washington Managing Principal, as its new chair for 2018-2019. Tremaglio replaces the Honorable Sven Erik Holmes, the Vice Chairman, Legal, Risk and Regulatory, and Chief Legal Officer for KPMG LLP, who has served as chair since July 2016.

Founded in 1982, the CCE is a nonprofit, nonpartisan civic organization that envisions a justice system in the District of Columbia that equitably serves its people and continues to be a model for creating stronger and more prosperous communities. CCE identifies and proposes justice system solutions by collaborating with diverse stakeholders to conduct research, advance policy, educate the public, and increase civic engagement.

In her opening remarks to the Board, Tremaglio said, "I am excited to return to CCE after being introduced to the organization early in my career by mentor and fellow CCE Board Director Marc Sherman, Managing Director for Alvarez & Marsal.”  She expressed her commitment to working with CCE’s board and staff leadership to bring broader exposure to CCE’s justice reform work and otherwise assist in the continued success of the organization.

CCE President Irvin B. Nathan said, "We are very excited to have someone as talented, energetic and committed as Tamika to take over as head of our distinguished Board. We were extremely fortunate to have someone of the caliber of Judge Holmes leading our Board for the past two years, and he leaves very big shoes to fill. But in Tamika, the Board is confident that we have just the person who can carry on at the same high standard that Judge Holmes set."

At Deloitte, Tremaglio is responsible for overseeing approximately 11,000 audit, tax, advisory, and consulting professionals in the Greater Washington region. She helps to drive client and business growth and further enhance Deloitte’s strategic positioning in the market. In addition to Tamika's role as Greater Washington managing principal, she also continues to work with clients in the forensics and investigations space.

She has led numerous large US and multinational client relationships for Deloitte’s Risk and Financial Advisory practice across the life sciences and health care and consumer and industrial products industries in forensic and investigation services. Additionally, she also serves as corporate secretary on the Deloitte Transactions and Business Analytics LLP board.

Tremaglio is a member of the National Bar Association and the Women of Excellence Network. She serves her community in many ways as a member of the Advisory Board of the National Bar Association’s Commercial Law Section and President of the Women’s National Basketball Players Association Foundation. She is also on the boards of United Way, Greater Washington Board of Trade, Tuskegee University, Born This Way Foundation, and Calverton School.

Tremaglio holds an MBA and a JD. She has been a frequent lecturer on corporate governance and global anti-corruption investigations and compliance issues. In 2017, she was named a Washington Business Journal Woman Who Means Business; Washingtonian also recognized her as one of the Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Washington, D.C. In addition, she is a recipient of the National Bar Association’s Cora T. Walker Legacy Award.
