Grand Jurors request access to laptops and smartphones

On June 19, reported about a letter request from DC grand jurors asking to use their personal laptops and electronic devices to conduct work while on breaks. reported that the Court did not respond to the grand jurors’ request.

CCE’s 2001 report on the DC Grand Jury did not speak to the issue of grand jurors working while on break, but it did note the hardship that accrued through grand jury service. CCE recommended that the term of grand jury service be reduced, that grand jurors be given improved accommodations, and that the Superior Court and the US Attorney should routinely solicit grand jurors’ feedback at the conclusion of their service.
