CCE mourns the loss of Board Director Thomas J. Mikula

CCE mourns the loss of Board Director Thomas J. Mikula, who passed away on October 9, 2013.  Tom had served as the Board representative for Goodwin Procter since 2007, and as a member of the Executive Committee since 2010.   He was a member of the Awards Selection Committee for the annual Justice Potter Stewart Award Dinner since 2009, and served as chair of the committee from 2011 – 2013.  From the Goodwin Procter website: “Tom was an exceptional trial lawyer who represented our clients in complex litigation matters across the country. He was perhaps best known at Goodwin Procter for his pro bono work. He co-chaired the firm’s Pro Bono Committee from 2004 to 2009 and has continued to serve on the committee as the firm’s D.C. pro bono chair. A man who cared deeply about his colleagues, Tom weaved a common thread of decency, warmth and fairness throughout the D.C. office and the firm. Described by one of his partners as ‘a tough litigator with a sweet disposition,’ Tom was liked by all who met him. Always cheerful, even-tempered and seemingly never angry or upset, Tom took great pleasure in life.”

Tom, who grew up in Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, graduated from the University of Notre Dame and The George Washington University Law School. He is survived by his wife Laura, and their daughter Joanne.
