The Council for Court Excellence works to improve the administration of justice in the local and federal courts and related agencies in the Washington metropolitan area. Formed in Washington, DC in January 1982, the Council is a nonprofit, nonpartisan civic organization.

DC children still linger in foster care
The median time DC children spend in foster care before being adopted has been stuck at close to 4 years since 2006, compared to 2 ½ years nationally. The lack of progress on expediting permanency for the District’s foster children is especially disappointing because the total number of foster care cases has dropped significantly, from 3421 in 2004 to 2000 in 2011.

Imagine that you're taking a college class, but you’re not allowed take notes or ask questions. Now imagine how you feel when it’s time for finals. Jurors were able to “participate in class” during the Roger Clemens trial in the US District Court for DC.
