Civil Justice

Most DC residents who directly encounter the courts will do so in the context of a civil case, such as adjudicating a ticket with a government agency, or a dispute between a landlord and tenant, or a business case. Examining the rules and procedures of civil cases and making recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the local and federal courts continues to be some of CCE's most important work. The results have been processes that are faster and fairer for all parties - individuals and businesses - in a civil dispute.

CCE is also monitoring the implemetation of the DC Office of Administrative Hearings, a central hearing panel established in 2002 at the recommendation of CCE. Read more ...
