We are delighted to announce that this year we will present the 12th Annual Justice Potter Stewart Award to two shining examples of service in our justice community: John Payton, for his exemplary contributions to the District's justice system as Corporation Counsel, president of the Bar, co-chair of the Lawyers' Committee on Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, and vice chair of the Public Defender Service; and Maureen Thornton Syracuse, for her leadership promoting, facilitating and providing pro-bono services for the poor and disadvantaged in the District of Columbia.

The funds raised from this award dinner will support the Council for Court Excellence’s mission and activities to improve the administration of justice.
